The LaNiV Network, (Landwirtschaftliche Nutztiere in der Versuchstierkunde - Farm Animals in Laboratory Animal Science) was founded in 2015, and consists of German speaking members (currently from Germany, Austria and Switzerland) who are interested in the use of large animals in research.

LaNiV is in the process of designing training courses based upon the modular structure recommended by the EU Commission, i.e. species-independent core modules, an overarching module for the responsible persons and planners of animal procedures, and species-specific modules in theory and practice. A complete course on cattle has been available since 2020 (in German only). Courses for poultry, pigs and small ruminants are in preparation.

The Network meets once a year for a workshop, consisting of public presentations followed by an internal meeting of LaNiV members.

LaNiV is an exchange platform for all those interested in the use of farm animals - contact details are available here.
