The Fidelta Ltd. two weeks Laboratory Animal Science (LAS) course is accredited by FELASA* (the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations) education and training board under 'Categories System' for categories B (technicians, 40 hours) and C (study directors, 80 hours), ensuring a high quality teaching program. The LAS course has been registered and approved by the Croatian Ministry of Agriculture.
Fidelta Ltd. LAS course gives a practical and theoretical introduction to handling, housing and experimental use of laboratory animals and how to replace, refine and reduce the use of live animals in scientific research. The skills and best practice of handling most common laboratory animals like small rodents and rabbits will be transferred to the course participants by the experienced research personnel in Fidelta's state of the art, AAALAC-I** accredited laboratory animal facility. |

Having completed the course, the participant is expected to be knowledgeable about the following:
the legislation regulating the animal experimentation that animal experimentation is complex and multidisciplinary biomedical discipline that requires continuous training to ensure the well-being of the animals and the quality of scientific outcome the biological basis of laboratory animal breeding and maintenance including basic genetics and reproduction the principles of health monitoring and disease prevention in animals and animal handlers alike (Occupational Health and Safety) the best practices (good veterinary and good scientific practices) applied within the animal experimentation, guidance on the design of experimental procedures, on the choice of statistical methods and on the reporting of preclinical research (ARRIVE, GSPC etc) the principles and rationale of some commonly applied animal models |
