The course begins with an introduction to the e-learning environment in order to let the participant become familiar with the tools in the virtual campus. Some of the tools we use are lessons and techniques recorded in HD video with audio explaining in detail the content of each topic, and the video material will be translated into flash video for optimal streaming for online presentations. Lecture material will also be provided as supplemental for video lessons. After a lesson is complete there will be a tutor/teacher interaction with the participants in the discussion forum. This forum provides guidance and promotes interaction and “brainstorming” between participants using a presented scenario to allow the participants to discuss and resolve cases.

Offering this training, we contribute to formation, acceptance, and usefulness in laboratory animals field. The students participating in the course achieve the necessary skills to perform correctly
experimental procedures in rats, mice and rabbits.
The proposed lessons are offered in thematic modules with an evaluation activity regarding each module after completing the video lessons and the forum interaction.
The evaluation activities are designed to accompany each module´s outcomes and require each participant to demonstrate an in-depth understanding and application of the lessons in case-based questions from scenarios in order to evaluate autonomy of judgment. After successful completion of the final module, a certificate of completion is provided to each student.
