Siri Kristine Gåsnes
Siri Kristine Gåsnes graduated as a veterinarian from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Oslo. Initially she worked for a couple of years in small animal practice in Oslo and Trondheim. A growing interest in fish led her to change her career path. She began by working with pharmaceuticals for fish while participating in the Seafood Trainee programme at NCE Seafood Innovation Cluster. Today, Siri is employed by the Norwegian Veterinary Institute, at the Department of Aquaculture, Wild Fish and Welfare, where she works on projects within fish welfare and the health of wild fish. She believes that all animals have intrinsic value, and she has a strong wish to contribute to increased knowledge about animal welfare, both for farmed and wild fish. Through her work with Norecopa, Siri wishes to contribute to the implementation of the 3Rs, so that they result in better research and increased animal welfare.
Siri is on leave until March 2023. Ingunn Sommerset at the Norwegian Veterinary Institute in Bergen acts in her place until then.
