Applied Animal Behaviour Science is an international journal reporting on the application of ethology to animals managed by humans.
It is the official Journal of the International Society for Applied Ethology (ISAE). The journal publishes relevant information on the behaviour of domesticated and utilized animals. It published special issues on, among other topics:
- laboratory animal behaviour and welfare in 2013
- the welfare of laboratory primates in 2012
- pain in farm animals in 2011
- animal suffering and welfare in 2009
- fish behaviour and welfare in 2007
- the effects of group size and density in captive animals in 2007
Topics covered include:
- Behaviour of farm, zoo and laboratory animals in relation to animal management and welfare
- Behaviour of companion animals in relation to behavioural problems, for example, in relation to the training of dogs for different purposes, in relation to behavioural problems
- Studies of the behaviour of wild animals when these studies are relevant from an applied perspective, for example in relation to wildlife management, pest management or nature conservation
- Methodological studies within relevant fields
