Description: To be able to react adequately to their surroundings it is necessary for animals to be able to transfer information rapidly within their bodies. The nervous system passes information by means of axons from one point to another. The information is contained in electric signals: action potentials. In this video film the ionic currents which are active during an action potential are described.
