Description: Embryo Images is an interactive tutorial designed to teach normal mammalian embryology, covering 3-8 weeks postfertilization. It uses over 300 scanning electron micrographs (SEMs) as its image base. Due to the 3-D quality of these micrographs, the student gathers a better understanding of complex morphological changes than is possible by simply studying diagrams. Embryo Images is colourfully illustrated and comprehensive tutorial. Features include: Transparent, removable colour overlays highlighting important structures; Animated 3-D models; Animated ?morph? films showing the development of specific structures over time; Animated cutting devices that demonstrate dissections; Diagrams from Langman?s Medical Embryology, 6th Edition, by T.W. Sadler, Ph.D.; Comprehensive text explaining important concepts demonstrated in each of the SEMs: Same colour coding used for SEM overlays as in the Langman?s textbook. Embryo Images is organized by organ systems and includes nine separate units in the following areas: Early cell populations and the establishment of body form; Body cavities, musculoskeletal and limb formation; Craniofacial development; Eye development; Ear development; Nervous system development; Cardiovascular development; Urogenital development; and Gut development. Each unit stands alone and the tutorials can be studied in any order. Page and diagram references are included for each of the diagrams from Langman?s Medical Embryology (any embryology text may be used as a supplement to the program).
