The activities of the JSAAE are divided into four categories: 1) Research, 2) Communication, 3) Education and 4) Validation and Technology Transfer. JSAAE publishes a quarterly scientific journal in English, entitled AATEX (Alternatives to Animal Testing and Experiments). The contents includes journal articles on alternatives in scientific experimentation and safety testing. The journal is sent to all the members of the Society and is distributed to the libraries of academic and research institutions in more than 30 countries. Back issues may also be available. JSAAE also publishes an influential newsletter in Japanese, entitled JSAAE Newsletter, aimed at scientists, politicians, administrators and informed general public. JSAAE also arranges an annual meeting.
