Through computer graphics, models, skeletal parts, and digestive systems removed from slaughtered animals, this DVD illustrates the anatomy and workings of the digestive systems in cattle, sheep, deer, and goats. The instructor begins with an overview of prehension, salivation, mastication and ruminating. Then he briefly reviews anatomy: the rumen, reticulum, omasum, abomasum and lower digestive tract. As he dissects a steer's digestive tract, the instuctor shows and explains organ structures, contents, tissue textures, functions and capacities. Also shows a cannula placed in a live steer to examine stomach contents while the steer is digesting, a laparoscopic footage filmed from inside the digestive tract. Students can test content mastery through periodic quizzes and a final quiz.
