Students will have many opportunities to vary and repeat laboratory experiments with this CD-ROM. This cost-effective multimedia tool contains ten of the most important animal-based physiological experiments ordinarily performed in the laboratory. It incorporates the mediums of animation, audio, text, and video to clarify and elucidate the complex physiological functions of the human body. All material necessary to conduct Virtual Physiology Lab's experiments are contained on this CD-ROM. Each lab consists of five areas: The Objective is defined with both text and audio. Key animated events are provided. The Foundation allows students to review and research information. The visual presentation is an effective way to introduce students to highly conceptual information. Each concept directly relates to sections in the lab for quick hyperlinking response and review. The Experiment is performed using vivid animation, audio, and graphical representation, and is supported with brief, concise text descriptions. While working, students may record the results in an electronic note pad that can be printed or saved. The Results allow students to record what they have seen and instructors to follow the students findings and conclusions. This section will also allow students to return directly to the experiment for review or to the foundation for comparison. Self-testing using true multiple answer pathways allows students to test comprehension as a whole or on single subjects. When students miss an answer they may return to the section where the applicable information may be reviewed. Table of Contents: 1 Action Potential; 2 Synaptic Transmission; 3 Frog Muscle; 4 Effects of Drugs on the Frog Heart; 5 Electrocardiogram; 6 Pulmonary Function; 7 Respiration and Exercise; 8 Digestion of Fat; 9 Diffusion, Osmosis, and Tonicity; 10 Enzyme Characteristics.
