Ultrasound trainer, Dog Bladder provides comprehensive training in ultrasound examination of the canine bladder of the lower body of a medium-sized dog. Four different inserts cover the major procedures/diagnoses, allowing training in diagnostic skills. The conditions usually have similar symptoms, so ultrasound examination is useful to obtain the actual diagnosis. Externally identical inserts require diagnostic skills to identify pathology.
The following inserts are included in the practice model:
- Normal Anatomy / Cystocentesis. This insert allows the bladder to be located under ultrasound and the anatomy identified. The insert can be filled with water allowing for withdrawal of fluid. The insert has self-healing properties to needle track marks. We recommend a rotational insert with high usage.
- Bladder stones. Undiagnosed bladder stones are very painful for the animal and can even lead to death. This insert allows the bladder stones to be located and identified so that the practitioner can learn what they look like under ultrasound.
- Bladder cancer. Bladder cancer can be very painful and life threatening. This insert allows the practitioner to practice locating a tumor with ultrasound.
- Inflammation of the bladder (cystitis). Bacterial infection of the lower urinary tract is usually painful and should be treated urgently. With this insert, the practitioner learns to recognize and diagnose cystitis.
