This Volume includes questions, answers and comments posted to the forum by dozens of LAREF members over the course of two and a half years, relating personal experiences in refining the conditions under which animals are housed and handled in research laboratories. The online forum facilitates the exchange of ideas and the sharing of personal knowledge and experience by animal care personnel who seeks to improve the conditions under which animals in research are housed and handled. Separate sections of the book cover issues relevant to cats, dogs, pigs, sheep, goats, rodents, rabbits, primates and (new to this volume) cold-blooded animals. The book includes a wealth of practical advice to animal care personnel, as well as touching personal anecdotes concerning the caregivers' attempts to provide enrichment to the animals and shield them from needless stress and suffering.
