This is a collection of policies and guidelines developed by the Australian Animal Research Review Panel (ARRP) and the Animal Welfare Unit to assist researchers and teachers, members of Animal Ethics Committees and the management of scientific institutions to understand and comply with the requirements of the Australian Animal Research Act, the Regulations and the Code of Practice.

- Animal care (guidelines for the care and housing of mice, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs and sheep)

- Research procedures (blood collection; guidelins for tick serum producers; production of monoclonal antibodies)
- Use of animals in teaching (post-graduate surgical training; animals in schools; teaching artificial insemination and pregnancy testing in cattle; teaching cervical or vaginal insemination of sheep)
- Wildlife research (captive wildlife; collection of voucher specimens; opportunistic research on free-living wildlife; use of feral animals; use of pitfall traps; radio tracking; wildlife surveys)
