Description: | the Champalimaud Course on Rodent Anaesthesia and Surgery, following the European Commission Guidance for Education & Training under Directive 2010/62/EU (http://ec.europa.eu/environment/chemicals/lab_animals/pdf/Endorsed_E-T.pdf), Task Specific Modules 20, 21 and 22. M20 - Anaesthesia for minor procedures M21 - Advanced anaesthesia for surgical or prolonged procedures M22 - Principles of surgery These modules are complementary to the basic training for animal use in research, and are recommended for people performing surgery. This course is, therefore, be restricted to people already trained/accredited to carry out procedures in animals (Function A) or to design procedures and projects (Function B). This course has theoretical sessions, case study group discussions, hands-on sessions with non-animal models (sutures) and a final task of performing a laparotomy on a rat. This task serves as real -life practice, and also as a way of integrating and putting into practice the concepts learned in the course. |
