This book describes and illustrates the anatomy of the developing mouse embryo. Interspersed throughout the text, more than 180 plates of photographs and electron micrographs aim to provide a comprehensive histological study of the development of the mouse from pre-implantation to term. Accompanied by explanatory notes and legends, the plates illustrate: Serial histological sections through embryos throughout embryogenesis and organogenesis; The differentiation of specific organs and organ systems including the spinal cord, eyes, gonads, kidneys and lungs; The external appearance of intact embryos throughout development. Associated with each plate section is a clear and concise description of the anatomical changes which they portray.
