ATCC, a non-profit organization, serves and supports the scientific community with a large, diverse collection of human, animal, and plant cell lines, as well as molecular genomic tools, microorganisms, biological products, culture reagents, toxins, nucleic acids, and testing and characterization services.
ATCC serves U.S. and international researchers by characterizing cell lines, bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa, as well as developing and evaluating assays and techniques for validating research resources and preserving and distributing biological materials to the public and private sector research communities.
Searches can quickly be performed among the many cells and microorganisms available by:
- Disease/Model (cancer, metabolic, genetic, rare, respiratory, infectious)
- Focus Area (e.g. agricultural, food safety, bioproduction, pharmaceutical, stem cell)
- Special Collections (microorganisms isolated from National Parks in the US)
- Tissue (from adipose tissue to veins)
- Tumor Cell Panels (well-characterized cell lines with mutation data from the Sanger Institute Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer)
- Microbial Panels (Cultures grouped together based on their utility in research related to infectious disease, antibiotic-resistance mechanisms, food and environmental testing, and population studies.)
Many other categories are also available.
More information on ATCC is available here.
