4-Piece Vein by GPI Anatomicals

This enlarged model shows 4 different cross sections of a vein in a hinged designed. A great tool to teach about the functioning of the veins and the mechanism of thrombosis. The vein model comes with a colour educational card included.

The four-piece vein shows the following sections:

• Normal vein with valves open: blood can pass through the valves on its way back to the heart.
• Normal vein with valves closed: blood is prevented from passing through the valve in the incorrect direction.
• Vein with moderate thrombosis: shows the valves open and the start of blood pooling on the valves and clot formation.
• Vein with severe thrombosis: shows the valves open and a severe blood clot; blood clots can break away to cause damage such as pulmonary embolism.
