This web site presents Lab 2: Spinal Cord Anatomy content derived from the Lab Manual for CVM 6120 Veterinary Neurobiology. This site was established to display spinal cord images in colour with a descriptive text and to provide additional views of spinal cord anatomy. Spinal Cord Lab Objectives: A. Identify gross anatomical features of the spinal cord situated within the vertebral column. Notice the relationship of spinal segments and roots to meninges and to surrounding vertebrae; B. In transverse sections of spinal cord, locate landmark fissures, sulci, septae, and the central canal. Identify regions and nuclei of grey matter and divisions of the white matter; C. Identify structures that make up conscious ascending pathways for Pain & Temperature and Touch & Kinesthesia. Students can choose from these topics: A. Spinal Cord Gross Anatomy; Segment-Vertebra Relationship; Spinal Meninges; B. Spinal Cord Histology; Spinal Grey Matter; Spinal White Matter; C. Spinal Pathways.
