Description: The primary goal of the RENI Web site is to provide access to the standardized and internationally harmonised nomenclature and diagnostic criteria of proliferative lesions in rats and mice. Links include: Organ Systems for Rats/Mice; Organs for Rats/Mice; Index. RENI is an information system designed for the use in routine toxicological pathology as well as for educational purposes. The development of RENI started in 1988 in parallel with the establishment of the pathology database RITA (Registry of Industrial Toxicology Animal-data) and the implementation of a systematic classification for toxicological pathology (nomenclature and diagnostic criteria of proliferative lesions in rats and mice). Early versions of RENI were stand-alone programs running under the DOS operating system. Now RENI is web-based. RENI's nomenclature and diagnostic criteria are based on the two major publications: Proliferative lesions in the rat; Proliferative lesions in the mouse. To access the RENI Web site, the user needs to be a member of the RITA database project.

Comments & References: Please see record number 7117, a book entitled "International Classification of Rodent Tumors: The Mouse" in the TextBase database (/TextBase).   The book contains the same diagnostic criteria and images, and corresponding data on proliferative lesions in the rat as this web site. For more information on RENI, please click here.
