Veterinary Anatomy: Directions & Planes (CVM6100) explains terms used to describe Anatomical Directions, Anatomical Planes and Muscle/Joint Actions. Directional terms come in opposing pairs. Anatomical directional terms are used to describe relative position consistently within a cadaver, independent of how the cadaver is oriented in the East/West, North/South world. Anatomical direction terms are: Dorsal/Ventral; Medial/Lateral; Cranial/Caudal; Rostral/Caudal; and Proximal/Distal. Terms used to describe anatomical planes are: Dorsal Plane; Transverse Plane; Sagittal Plane and Median Plane. Terms used to describe muscle/joint actions are: Extend/Flex; Abduct/Adduct; and Supinate/Pronate. All terms are briefly explained. The user can view direction illustrations in Anatomical Directions, view planes animations in Anatomical Planes, and view actions in Muscle/Joint Actions.
