Western Lowland Gorilla Skull, Female is a 2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw) of Gorilla gorilla.
Wild female gorillas stand 3 1/2 to 5 feet tall and weigh 150 to 220 pounds. Their skulls are less massive than the males, having a reduced nuchal crest and lacking a sagittal crest. The browridge is less pronounced and the canine teeth proportionally smaller. Gorillas live in small family groups numbering from eight to 20 individuals headed by one silverback and containing multiple females and their offspring. Average gorilla life span in the wild appears to be around 35 years. Long thought to be the only species of great ape that hadn't mastered the use of tools, recently a gorilla was seen using a rock as a tool for cracking nuts and another was seen using a stick to gauge the depth of water in the stream before wading into it.
Display Stand is sold separately. A Male Version is also available.
