Description: | With traditional cell-based endpoint assays you can miss important cellular events if measurement isn't taken at the appropriate time, particularly when characterizing a compound's effect on cells. Additionally, assay reagents can negatively affect cell health and endpoint assays can impede downstream multiplexing. |

In vitro cell-based assays are useful tools for measuring the health of a cell population. These assays can help uncover parameters such as cell viability, death, mitochondrial events, oxidative stress, metabolism and more. While cell-based assays have become an important component of a researcher’s toolkit, traditional endpoint assays can present various challenges. Namely, you can miss important cellular events if the measurement is not taken at the appropriate time, particularly if you are characterizing an unknown compound’s effect on the cells. Furthermore, certain assay reagents can negatively affect the cell sample, so it is imperative to understand the consequences of your chosen assay reagent. Typical endpoint assays are also limiting, as they impede downstream multiplexing. "Real-time" cell-based assays can resolve these dilemmas. Unlike endpoint assays, real-time assays enable the repeated recording of kinetic data over time without harming the cell sample, and they provide the flexibility of downstream multiplexing. In this webinar, we explore assay design and considerations for plate-based real-time assays, multiplexing and 3D culture. You will gain a better understanding of real-time assays and how to get the most from your cell samples. |
