The mission of Replacing Animal Research is to promote the replacement of animals in medical experiments, and the use of non-animal methods for predicting human adverse reactions. It changed its name from FRAME in 2024.
Replacing Animal Research has its own Alternatives Laboratory and conducts desk-based research. It also collaborates with other organisations, industry and laboratories across a wide range of biological and medical fields.
Replacing Animal Research runs regular Training Schools in experimental design and statistics internationally. It also publishes the journal ATLA (Alternatives to Laboratory Animals).
FRAME produced a chart about Strategic Planning for Research Programmes and for reducing animal use in biomedical science.
FRAME published The Three Rs and The Humanity Criterion, a revised and updated version of Russell & Burch's book on the 3Rs, The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique.
FRAME organised an online discussion on 4 November 2021 with the title FRAME Live! 2021.
