Oppenmarkers

Oppen markers can be used to identify individual animals when conducting experiments by applying a colour to the animal's tail or skin. These markers are suitable for easy identification for a short period of time. Compared to ear-punching or ear-marking, which involves cutting the animal's ears, colouring the tail or skin is less stressful on the animal and easier for the experimenter. They enable identification for a period of 3-4 days for group-reared mice and more than a week for group-reared rats.

Oppen uses inks that have been proven safe in acute oral toxicity tests to rats.

The marker can be used on the tails and skin of mice, rats and other animals.

The B/6 strain, which has conventionally been difficult to identify by colouring the coat, can also be identified by marking the tail.

The nib comes in two sizes, THIN and THICK, and can be used according to the size of the area to be marked, lines or numbers.

For application to the coat, a separate Animal Marker is recommended.

Catalgue number KN-297, 6 pens per pack: Black, Green, Pink, Light Blue, Violet.
