AAALAC International cites these guidelines as one of its reference resources, with the caveat that AAALAC Council requires aseptic technique when conducting survival surgeries and that fixation in formalin must be preceded by anesthesia or euthanasia. The report can be viewed on the AAALAC website or downloaded from AAALAC as a pdf file.
Many more resources for planning and conducting animal research and testing can be found in the PREPARE guidelines.
