The laboratory animal facility at UiB offers 3 courses in Laboratory Animal Science, in accordance with the demands of Mattilsynet and the Appendix E of the Regulation on the use of animals in research (Norw: “Forskrift om bruk av dyr i forsøk”)
Course consist of lectures, e-lectures, group work, MCQs and a final exam

Knowledge: The student should achieve knowledge defined by the EU Commission training framework to fulfil the requirement on the directive on protection of animals used for scientific purposes
Skills: *Students should be able to search relevant information to plan and apply for animal experiment
*Student should be able to critically evaluate animal research in light of best practices and principles o the 3Rs
Generic: *Students should be able to understand the importance of meeting legislative demands to maintain legitimate support for certain activities
*Students should understand the importance of high quality and standards to do good science
