Åshild Roaldset
Åshild Roaldset graduated as a veterinarian from Bristol University. In addition she has a Master degree in Public Health Science from the University of Tromsø. She started her veterinary career in the midst of the Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak in the UK in 2001, where she worked as a Temporary Veterinary Inspector. She also worked in mixed practice with many different species, including production animals and pets, including more unusual ones such as tortoises, geese and alpaca. After moving back to Norway, she ran her own small animal practice for a while and was then employed by the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science in a variety of roles, including Head of the small animal clinic and equine clinic. Today she is the manager of the Norwegian Society for Protection of Animals, which is Norway's oldest animal welfare organisation, and the only nationwide organisation that provides practical help for animals in need.
- Research animals are at the bottom of the list of all the animals that we humans utilise. Norway's enormous use of these animals comes with a duty, and it is therefore important that the 3R principles are followed and developed further, in all research where animals are involved.
