Abdominal Wall Simulator

This simulator is designed to be used to teach basic surgical technique and on courses in hernia repair. The simulator includes a multilayer abdominal wall containing skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscle and peritoneum. Students can practise closure of the different layers. Techniques that can be practised include: Laparotomy Incision; Needle insertion; the Hassan technique; Abdominal closure with continuous or interrupted sutures; Layer or mass closure using loop sutures and Aberdeen knots.
