This male specimen of an articulated horse skeleton, is a reproduction (replica) from a large retired police horse. The importance of the joints in permitting movement, absorbing shock and bearing weight is clearly illustrated with this skeleton. Domestic horses vary a lot in size and colouration with more than 180 breeds, including miniature horses, ponies, hot bloods, cold bloods and draft horses.
