Eye Dissection (3-D Paper Dissection Model) provides hands-on learning that gives students a close-up look at how structure and function work together to create the magic of vision. Formerly a longtime favorite of the Getting Nerdy collection and now part of the Inside Out Science lineup, it offers a comprehensive educational experience without the need for real specimens.
This eye dissection model lesson includes a student-friendly reading that explores the anatomy and physiology of the eye, color and black-line templates for different learning levels, and a step-by-step PowerPoint that guides students through coloring, cutting, and assembling their true-to-life paper eye model. Students can “dissect” it again and again—without the smell, stress, or cleanup of traditional labs. Designed to mimic a real dissection, this Scienstructable 3-D paper model works beautifully as a pre-lab activity, a humane dissection-free exploration, or a summative comparative anatomy assessment. It’s a classroom favorite for helping students visualize key structures and build lasting connections between organ systems.
All Inside Out Science dissection models use consistent organ color schemes and include templates for both sexes (where applicable), helping students understand anatomical relationships and comparative biology across species.
Furthermore, this model adheres to modern Three Rs standards (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement), offering an eco-friendly and scent-free experience that accommodates students opting out of traditional dissections. A vinyl version is also available.
