Description: Student Wet Spirometer, 9-liter introduces students to the basics of respiratory physiology through experiments in which they are the subjects. Five different respiratory volumes can be determined from measurements obtained: Tidal Volume (TV) - the amount of air exhaled or inhaled in normal breathing; Inspiratory Capacity (IC) - the amount of air which can be inhaled in a strenuous effort, after normal expiration; Inspiratory Reserve Volume (IRV) - inspiratory capacity minus tidal volume; Expiratory Reserve Volume (ERV) - the amount of air that can be breathed out after normal expiration; and Vital Capacity (VC) - the total volume of maximum inhalation capacity plus the maximum exhalation capacity plus tidal volume of diseases such as emphysema, pneumonia, and tuberculosis.
