The CurVet Imitation Training Aid (CITA Rat) is a simulator that provides an ethical and realistic alternative to the use of live rodents for training and teaching purposes. The CurVet Rat is designed to provide the skills required for humane and ethical handling and procedural competencies. Contains: Realistic dermatological skin, suitable for: Injections, Micro-chipping identification, Handling and restraint, Easy to clean; Head and spinal movement, including rear limbs: Suitable for oral administration; Lateral and ventral head movement; Hard palate with incisors; Realistic removable tail with two lateral tail veins for: Learning blood sampling techniques, Intravenous administration, Insertion of a flexible catheter (Angiocath), Tail is made of a self sealing material for long life span, Additional tails can be purchased separately, Artificial, realistic blood available, Internal reservoir to hold artificial blood or remain empty to contain intravenous administration of saline. The CurVet Rat has realistic eyes, whiskers, pink extremities, fore and rear limbs, anus and rectum with limited aperture for thermoregulation monitoring clinical or digital thermometer, adult rat size and weight approximately 350g. The CurVet Rat is made in Britain and does not include latex. It is made in collaboration between Vet-Tech and The Learning Curve. Replaceable tails can be purchased from the supplier. A needle can be placed into the tail of up to 200 times before it would need replacing.
