Description: The Horse's Foot is an interactive program designed to increase the user's understanding of the complex anatomy and common disease conditions associated with this important structure. Features: More than 250 illustrations and images, is fully narrated, includes opening videos and numerous animated sequences (including rotating 3D animation). The program is divided into the following sections: ANATOMY: Using full colour 3-D animation, diagrams and photographs of the normal equine foot's structure (carpus, fetlock, pastern, coffin) and function; DISEASES AND CONDITIONS: Their causes, diagnosis, treatment, aftercare and prevention, specifically bruised sole, canker, corns, fracture of the navicular and pedal bones, hoof wall avulsion and cracks, keratoma, laminitis, nail bind and prick, navicular syndrome, pedal osteitis, penetrating injury, pus in the foot, pyramidal disease, quittor, ringbone, seedy toe, sheared heels, sidebones and thrush; RADIOGRAPHY: Why, how and in what circumstances x-ray films are taken and what they show; HOOF BALANCE: The principles of static and dynamic hoof balance, used to maintain well-balanced feet; TRIMMING AND SHOEING: Why horses' feet are trimmed and shod.  A Radiographic reference includes principles of radiography, required equipment, foot preparation and standard radiographic views. The CD also includes discussion of the principles of hoof balance and how to assess foot/limb balance. An exploration of the fundamentals of trimming and shoeing including hoof repair, hoof pads and a visual library of common horse shoes are also included.
