Vaccination Basics provides a basic understanding of the principles of immunity (including what immunity is) and vaccination (why vaccinations are necessary), as well as a description of the various canine and feline diseases for which vaccines are available. The vaccination categories (core, non-core, not recommended) are in accordance with the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). The veterinary team members will learn: The definition of immunity; The roles that antigens, antibodies, B-cells, T-cells and plasma cells play in an immune response; Why vaccinations are important for maintaining a healthy immune system; The characteristics of various canine and feline diseases for which vaccines are available, including signs, symptoms and transmission potential; To effectively answer comment client questions about vaccinations. The team may complete the built-in self-assessment test and send the results to Lifelearn to collect 1 hour of continuing education (CE) credits from RACE or OVC (Ontario Veterinary College) and a Certificate of Completion. Lifelearn's practice licence allows all team members to use the program and collect CE.
