Virtual Canine Anatomy was an interactive multimedia DVD produced at Colorado State University to teach students canine anatomy. Each dissection is composed of a series of images that guide students through later and deeper layers. Photographs, descriptions, and animations show students how to proceed throughout the dissection.
Colorado State now run a program called Virtual Animal Anatomy, an online anatomy program that includes Virtual Canine Anatomy (VCA), Virtual Equine Anatomy (VEA), Virtual Feline Anatomy (VFA), and Virtual Bovine Anatomy (VBA).
The program allows the luxury of self-paced, individualized learning and provides a focal point around which the instructor and student can exchange ideas and make interpretations of course content.
The equine, feline, and bovine programs are modeled after VCA, and are in various stages of completion. Examples of Virtual Animal Anatomy can be viewed in this video and in this webinar.
