DEPART is a set of planning guidelines which emphasise specific issues that may be particularly relevant in pre-clinical studies of osteoarthritis.

DEPART is a set of planning guidelines which emphasise specific issues that may be particularly relevant in pre-clinical studies of osteoarthritis.

The authors reviewed the factors in experimental design that contribute to poor translation of pre-clinical research to therapies for patients with osteoarthritis, and examined how this might be improved.

The aim of DEPART is to enable completion of the ARRIVE checklist at the time of publication, and thus improve the quality of evidence for inclusion of experimental animal research in meta-analyses and systematic reviews.

See also the PREPARE guidelines, which are designed to cover all aspects of animal-based research and testing.
