EFSA guidance on fish welfare

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has produced guidance on several aspects of fish welfare.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has produced guidance on several aspects of fish welfare. Links to these have been collected on EFSA's website. These include:
  • the welfare aspects of the stunning and killing of farmed turbot, tuna, carp, seabass, seabream, eels, rainbow trout and salmon
  • a general approach to fish welfare and to the concept of sentience in fish
  • food safety considerations of animal welfare aspects of husbandry systems for farmed fish
  • the welfare of animals during transport
EFSA has also produced guidance on risk assessment for animal welfare, Scientific Opinion on the welfare of animals during transport and aspects of the biology and welfare of animals used for experimental and other scientific purposes.
