A report by the RSPCA Research Animals Department and LASA Education, Training and Ethics section.
This document was produced to help interpret the requirements for UK local Ethical Review Processes (ERPs) and, by sharing good practice, to develop more efficient and effective processes. Since its publication, Directive 2010/63 has come into force and been transposed into UK law. Despite any changes that may result from this, the content of the Guiding Principles remains relevant to animal welfare and ethical review bodies in the UK, throughout the EU and worldwide. The authors hope to be able to update the document once there is greater clarity regarding the new legislation and its implementation in practice.
