The Norwegian Reference Centre for Laboratory Animal Science and Alternatives produced a website, now integrated in the Norecopa website, with videofilms and slide series illustrating common techniques on a range of laboratory animal species.
The website covers mice, rats, rabbits, mink, hens and pigs. Techniques shown include handling and immobilisation, oral gavage, a range of injections (s.c., i.p., i.v.) and blood removal.
The Centre published separate webpages on bloodsampling by saphenous venepuncture in mink and on bloodsampling of pigs, and a paper in Laboratory Animals on saphenous venepuncture in general.
Many more resources for planning and conducting animal research and testing can be found in the PREPARE guidelines.
