In its first financial year (2008), Norecopa received funds from two Norwegian Ministries which cover the administrative costs for a secretary (50% position) plus NOK 200,000 in running costs.
Norecopa did not consider this sufficient to run a national consensus platform and centre of competence for the 3Rs, and has therefore considered it important to inform the politicians of this. As a result of this political activity, this amount has gradually increased over the years. In 2019 Norecopa received State funds for a 100% secretarial position and NOK 250,000 in running costs. In 2020 and 2021 the contribution to running costs was increased to NOK 500,000.
In addition, Norecopa has participated in a number of public hearings, on among other things the annual State budgets, the new Animal Welfare Act and the new Regulation on the Use of Animals in Research.
