Chester Chest is a lifelike simulator of a human torso, utilising the three most commonly used long-term vascular access routes: Implanted vascular access devices; External central catheters; Peripheral placed central catheters. The simulator also includes a detachable right arm. Suitable for gaining proficiency with long term Vascular Access Devices (VADs), like Implanted Ports; Central Venous Catheters (CVCs) and Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICCs). May be used in an upright or supine position. It enables the user to practise assessment, dressing care, securement, and maintenance of these VADs. The simulator contains inserts to practise a deeply placed port, a tipping port, and a wandering port. The Vascular Access Devices used with this simulator are actual clinical instruments. A simulated blood reservoir bag attached to the distal ends of each device allows "blood" withdrawal and fluid infusion. In addition, external jugular and subclavian catheters can be attached to the trainer's existing openings. The simulator includes: Life-size torso with neck and chin, detachable right arm, Outer Tissue Flap, an actual implanted port, CVC, PICC, openings for attachment of a subclavian or external jugular catheter, three Difficult Accessing Inserts - one that simulates a Wandering Access Device, one that simulates a Tipping Access Device, and one that simulates a Deeply Placed Device, "blood" reservoir bags, tubing, talc baby powder, and user's information.
