Description: PharmaCalc v02 and PharmaCalcCL feature: One- and two-compartment kinetic models; Intravenous bolus, infusion, and extravascular (e.g. oral) administration; Repeated doses; Complex dosing schemes: loading & maintenance dose, missing dose, changes in clearance (PharmaCalcCL). PharmaCalc v02 and PharmaCalcCL are pharmacokinetic simulation programs based on first-order kinetics and compartment modeling. The user can enter the pharmacokinetic parameters of a drug (half life in PharmaCalc v02; clearance in PharmaCalcCL), choosing between one and up to 23 applications of individual doses, at individual intervals (and individual clearances in PharmaCalcCL). A therapeutic range can also be indicated. The graphs (credits to jfreechart) are interactive and allow zooming. Comes with a library of a few drugs with pre-set parameters, which is constantly enlarged. For more information and the links to these products, please see biopharmacy.ethz.ch.
Comments & References: PharmaCalc v02 and PharmaCalcCL are Java applications that can be downloaded free of charge from biopharmacy.ethz.ch. The applications are not signed. The applications, written by Stefanie D. Krämer (ETH Zurich) follow the idea of the original PharmaCalc, written by Daniel Keller (ETH Zurich, 1997).
Computer type: Requires Java software (www.java.com)
