Shark Dissection (3 D Paper Dissection Model)

The Shark Dissection (3-D Paper Dissection Model) brings marine biology to life in a way that’s hands-on, eco-friendly, and budget-conscious. Formerly a longtime favorite of the Getting Nerdy collection, now part of the Inside Out Science lineup. This detailed shark dissection model lesson includes a student-friendly reading that explores shark anatomy, structure, and function, along with black-line and color templates that provide differentiation for varied learning levels. A guided PowerPoint presentation walks students through coloring, cutting, and assembling their own realistic, reusable 3-D shark model that they can “dissect” again and again.

Created to mimic a true dissection, this Scienstructable 3-D paper model can be used as a pre-lab introduction, a humane dissection-free exploration, or a post-lab assessment for comparative anatomy lessons at school or home. Students values the authentic hands-on experience, while others use it to preview or reinforce key concepts before real lab days.

All Inside Out Science dissection models include templates for both sexes (where applicable) and maintain a consistent organ color system across species, helping students visualize anatomical relationships and build deeper understanding through comparative biology. Furthermore, this model adheres to modern Three Rs standards (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement), offering an eco-friendly and scent-free experience that accommodates students opting out of traditional dissections.
